Junior Cricket
Junior cricket is extremely important to Woodhouse Grange, and we are very proud to have a really good reputation for helping young cricketers develop their skills.
Most of the players in our senior teams started as juniors at the club and the main reason why we are one of the very few clubs able to regularly field four Saturday teams is because of our investment in junior cricket.
All Stars and Dynamos
During the summer we run courses for the ECB's junior cricket programmes:
- All Stars Cricket (5 to 8 year olds)
- Dynamos Cricket (8 to 11 year olds)
Age Groups and Teams
We field teams at all the available junior levels from under 9s all the way up to under 18s, playing in local competitions. Youngsters are welcome to join once they are aged 7 or over.
Coaching
The club has several ECB qualified coaches, who run indoor nets at a local school during early spring, followed by outdoor coaching sessions on Friday evenings during the summer (6:30pm start).
Progress through to adult cricket
Once juniors reach their teens, opportunities open up to play adult league cricket on Saturdays. Our 3rd & 4th XIs have a high proportion of teenagers, with the 2nd XI also featuring players within this age bracket. Some exceptional talents have even made their 1st XI debuts whilst still in their teens.
